Now, About Our Fair...
On 11 August Tui Glen School P.T.A. is running its
ninth annual Curios and Collectibles Fair in the Lower Hutt Horticultural and Town Halls.
Brief History
A half dozen P.T.A. members started out nine years ago with a phone book, a few names and
lots of enthusiasm. Our focus at that time was replacing the old and outdated play areas.
Our vision was to set up a regular income that would bring us in a decent return for our
time and effort. We got our playgrounds and our Fair's reputation has grown to become
something many people look forward to each year being popular with the young and old
alike.
Although many dealers and traders are from the Wellington Region some dealers are prepared
to travel, coming from nearly every province in the North Island. This year we have a
record number taking up over 70 trestle spaces and we have decided to extend into the Town
Hall, a first for us.
100% of all money taken at the door and café is spent on enriching the lives of Tui Glen
kids. This year some funds will be spent on buying established shade trees and books for
the library.
What is our Curios and Collectable Fair All About?
If you have the slightest interest in any or all of the following, jewellery, china,
brass, silver, stamps, books, toys, coins, cards, bottles, old tools, militaria, crystal,
small furniture or tins, you will enjoy this fair. Most items for sale are from days gone
by however some trading cards are very popular with younger children. Memorabilia from
every era in our history will be available to buy however just browsing can be a very
interesting and enjoyable experience.
A good value family time out at $3 per adult and under 13's free. Our fresh food cafe is
always worth a stop as well.
We look forward to seeing you there.
