It has been a busy month and I have
been involved with the following:
- On site meeting with council officers to look at
various matters raised at the last Northern Ward Committee Meeting (clothing bins
locations, Stokes Valley Rd footpaths will be upgraded, street lighting for upper Stokes
Valley Rd will be investigated, Rakau Grove will have its safety with regard to footpaths
looked into, two very untidy houses in Stokes Valley Rd will be further investigated,
access over Stokes Valley Stream, safe access over the area near the river etc),
- Two meetings related to the Taita Community Centre,
- The carpark building has finally been sold
- Attendance at Local Government NZ Conference in
Rotorua 28-31 July
- Arranging a drive around and workshop for the
Northern Ward Committee Members and City Councillors to look at concerns and set goals for
the next year,
- attendance at a meeting at Stokes Valley Memorial
RSA re sale of land that Council lease at 10 cents per year from them. Funnily they have
never paid because they have not been sent an account for 20 years. Council has nine flats
sitting on this land. Stokeswood are very interested in buying the land and flats to
include into their complex. The RSA is an asset to our community and is looking at ways of
attracting new clientele. Any ideas? I would like to see a weekly youth activity night
held there.
- Notification by myself of the patch of road in
James Grove that needed urgent attention,
- Lobbying for public comment at Northern Ward
Committee Meetings to remain how it is at not need to be notified previously,
- Looking at ways of funding the $7,000 of gym
equipment that could remain at Taita Community Hall,
- Attended the opening of the fabulous new Taita
Subway. Roll on the upgrade of the shopping centre!
I am always interested in your ideas on any
council matters.
