BURGLARIES:
The Valley has had a total of 13 burglaries for December 2001, with seven being committed
during daylight hours and six committed at night. From the 1st to the 22nd of January we
have had a total of four burglaries with two during the day and two being committed at
night.
Two young Maori males were seen entering through windows at two of these burglaries but
were unable to be located at the time.
As in previous months, jewellery, cash and playstations were targeted. It would be good
practice for you to photograph your jewellery. It would make things so much easier when
trying to give descriptions to Police or your insurance company.
I have an engraver at the office, so you can engrave your stereo or playstation. It would
be a lot harder for these criminals to sell on your property if your name were on the
items.
THEFT EX CAR:
This offence is rearing its head once again. Three cars have been broken into so far this
month. It cannot be stressed enough - Please don't leave valuables in your car!
DRIVING OFFENCES:
Due to a series of complaints in relation to speed, patrols have now been stepped up,
targeting speedsters in our area. One of the Boy Racers who was recently spoken to by
Police failed to heed the warning and lost control of his vehicle due to excess speed on
the Paekakariki Hill Rd. He wrote his car off and nearly did the same to himself.
While operating in the Valley, checkpoints have apprehended a large number of disqualified
or suspended drivers. Please remember, if you are forbidden to drive and you are caught,
you will also lose your car.
