Burglaries:
The Valley has had a total of 3 burglaries for the month of June (George Street, Rintoul
Grove and Scott Court). Two were committed during the day and one during nighttime hours.
Small personal affects, such as camera gear, jewellery and cash were targeted.
Playstations and videos were also stolen. If your name is on your CDs or playstations, and
these names are different than the person trying to sell the item to the shop, Police will
be notified immediately by the shop. F or larger items, such as stereos, cameras and
videos etc, see my office as I have an engraver that you can use to put your family
details on your property.
Theft ex-Car:
So far this month, three cars have been broken into. This figure is far too high. A couple
of cars had large amounts of CDs in them, and two cars had flash CD Players stolen. If you
have seen them or know who has them, please let me know.
Lost and Found
I still have a very nice Canon camera at my office, found in the Delaney Drive area. A
couple of black wallets were also handed in and a woman's 9ct Gold Diamond ring was found
in Scott Court.
Willful Damage
Vandals were busy at the top end of the valley, after a party, a group of young people
went on a rampage smashing several letterboxes and it has also happened further down the
Valley near Speldhurst Park. I would like to hear from anyone who might know who the
offenders are for this senseless crime. Also, our schools are again being targeted by
groups of young people who have been tagging the schools. If you are out walking, make a
point to walk through these schools. These kids won't damage or vandalise if they are
being watched.
Boy Racers
In recent weeks I have had numerous visits from members of the public complaining about
this new offender called the "Boyracer." After speaking with these people I am
fast to point out that this in not new problem, that these guys in their cars have been
around for years. Sure thirty years ago it may have been a Morrie 1000 or an A40 Farina
with twin carbs and a cooper muffler, or if you were lucky to have that extra dollar it
could have been a Valiant or a Holden, lowered with a loud exhaust. The problem was the
same - go down to the Hutt on a Friday night and they were roaring around trying to get
the attention of the girls, quite often it was the attention of the local traffic cop and
the worry of having to pay the $20.00 fine.
These days it appears that there is more money around and instead of the Morrie or the
Valiant these guys are driving turbo Legacies and GT Nissans that are indeed very fast and
flash.
The Hutt Valley Car Club has arranged to allow these "Boys in Their Toys" to pay
a nominal fee and enter an organised gymkhana type race in the riverbank car park on
Thursday nights, I think this is a great idea lets hope these guys can keep their silly
driving practices there and not bring them out onto our roads;
