The Alliance has selected Moira Lawler to
stand in the Rimutaka electorate.Ms Lawler will be campaigning in Rimutaka for the party vote for the Alliance.
She has a background in politics as the past president of the NewLabour Party, and a previous City Councillor. Ms Lawler is a member of the Ministry of Education reference group on Adult and Community Education and a Trustee with the Community Trust of Wellington. Currently the Community Development Officer at Porirua City Council, Ms Lawler lives in Pukerua Bay with her partner and 3 children.
“My professional experience is in community development and local economic development. I have spent the last 15 years working with community and local government organisations. I am not asking Rimutaka voters to give me an electorate vote, but I know that even Labour voters are concerned about Labour governing alone. The Alliance deserves your party vote as the party that has achieved so much as Labours coalition partner. “
The Alliance delivered the KiwiBank, a return to New Zealand owned banking, Paid Parental Leave, a re-write of the Employment Relations Act, minimum wage increases, $20 extra a week for Superannuitants, economic development funding, and a moratorium on the release of Genetic Engineering into our environment.
The Alliance has a successful track record in government. We will work to ensure that government addresses public health and education as top priorities.
