Mini-Golf Anyone?

Have you ever played mini-golf at Avalon Park? Did you know there was a mini-golf on the park? Have you noticed the mini-golf course as you have driven over the Kennedy Good Bridge?

Tucked away in the sheltered corner of Avalon Park are 18 fun filled holes of mini-golf. The course is designed for all skill levels from 5 - 105 (excluding Tiger Woods). Well, whether or not you have noticed the course, perhaps it is time you went down and played a couple of games. It is a lot of fun for the whole family and a good way to fill in some time on the weekend or during school holidays.

The course at Avalon Park was designed and constructed by the Lions Club of Lower Hutt, and many Hutt Valley residents and visitors have enjoyed the facility over the years.

Because it is run by a volunteer organisation (Lions), the cost is only $2.50 per person for a game, and the proceeds are donated back in to the community after maintenance costs have been deducted. Some of the local groups to benefit from the proceeds of the mini golf so far this year are Taita Plunket, Barnadoes Hutt Valley, Stokes Valley Community Centre, Womens’ Refuge and Te Omanga Hospice. The course is open every weekend, public and school holidays, from 1pm to 4pm, weather permitting.

As the course has been functioning for many years now, the Lions Club have decided it is time to look at the holes and see if they can find a way to make them more interesting and/or more challenging. They are looking for suggestions from the people who use the facility, so if you go down and play a game complete a questionnaire and tell them your ideas.

Look forward to seeing you all there.
