New World Food Safety Audit

In our March issue, we reported that Stokes Valley New World was to undergo a Ministry of Health Food Safety Audit. You can read that story here.

This month we are pleased to report that New World Supermarket has passed the audit and now has Health Department approval after being independently audited. There were two audits as part of the process. The first checks the procedures and recommends changes. The second checks that the changes have been implemented. The programme looks to identify all food hazards in the Supermarket and to eliminate all risks.

All staff have gone through the associated training programme and all new staff will have full induction training. The Audit is repeated every 12 months and has cost SV New World tens of thousands of dollars so far in order to guarantee full compliance. Programmes still to be completed include the new food labelling procedures and a Health and Safety audit.
