Who Cares If You Have High Blood Pressure? |
 Who cares if you have high blood pressure? Your local Amcal pharmacy does. And if
you value your health, so should you.Ross Cook Amcal Pharmacy is offering blood pressure screens from 11 -31 July. Nearly one out of every five New Zealanders has high blood pressure and half of these people may not even know.  High blood pressure is a risk factor for the development of heart disease and
people may not have any symptoms at all. High blood pressure, or hypertension can damage
blood vessels and cause the heart to enlarge and weaken. If blood vessels become narrow or
blocked, a heart attack or stroke may occur. Your local Ross Cook Amcal Pharmacy
recommends knowing your blood pressure and having it checked regularly. Ross Cook Amcal Pharmacy is having a three week awareness campaign to educate local residents on risk factors for development of high blood pressure. Local residents are invited to look after their hearts by coming in for a blood pressure screen during 11-31 July. The price is a reduced amount of just $3.00.  Our aim is to increase awareness of risk factors towards development of high
blood pressure with a special focus on smoking. We will be identifying anyone at high risk
of hypertension and referring them to their doctor for monitoring. We will also be providing free smoking cessation support packs and educating the public on how smoking affects a person's blood vessels and it's negative effect on anti-hypertensive medication. The campaign will take place from 11th -31st July.  It's all part of Amcal helping you take good care of yourself. For more details
