Stokes Valley ANZAC Day Parade

The threat of rain on 25 April didn’t deter a large crowd from watching or taking part in the Stokes Valley ANZAC Day Parade. Crowd estimates range from 700 to 1000 people, with 500 - 700 taking part in the parade itself, including representatives from the Stokes Valley Memorial R.S.A., Scouts, Brownies and Girl Guides.

The march started at 11.00 am at Scott Court and proceeded down Stokes Valley Road to Hawthorne Crescent and the R.S.A. Club rooms. Here a service was lead by Rev Heather Macdonald of St Philips Anglican Church, and a dedication was made to ANZAC by the President of the Stokes Valley R.S.A.

Lt/Col Barclay from the NZ defence forces gave the address before The Last Post was played by a bugler from the Upper Hutt Cosmopolitan Club Brass Band.
