Policy and Pricing
Cost Effectiveness: Online advertising is one of the easiest and
cheapest means by which to get your message to the community. Publishing for the web in
electronic format is much simpler than for the printed page and tends to cost much less.
Eye-catching: The Internet is a colour and movement based medium
leading to almost unlimited ways by which you can catch the eye of your potential
customer. Viewers reading printed words online will naturally have their attention drawn
to attractive, colourful or moving advertisements.
Loyalty: Visitors to this web site already have a demonstrated
interest in Stokes Valley or its surrounding regions. It would be safe to assume that most
would prefer to buy from those who live or work alongside them. But do they know of your
business or do they need reminding of what you can do for them? Be sure local readers know
who and where you are. Send the message that you take and interest in and are supportive
of your local community by advertising on your community web site.
It's the way of the future: Rapidly over time, the Internet has become
inextricably integrated into our daily lives. Already, more and more people are going
online seeking purchasing opportunities, information, or recreation. This trend will only
continue, and as such, the Internet will increasingly become the first and best place to
advertise.
Flexibility: Internet advertisements are more flexible and portable
than other forms. Advertisements can be changed or updated at any time, even after
publication. The electronic version of your advertisement can be transported on a floppy
disk or sent via e-mail, and easily forms the basis for a printed version. If we design an
advertisement for you, it becomes your property to take elsewhere and use as you see fit.
Ads designed by SVN become the property of the Customer and will be made available on
request as either JPG, GIF or TIFF files. Ads will be sent freely as attachments to any
e-mail address specified, or sent through the post on a floppy diskette for a $10.00 fee.
Community group non-profit advertisements are designed at 15% discount, and placed on
the web page for free.

placement. All prices quoted include G.S.T. If you already have an ad, and its dimensions
differ from those described below, or if you would like an ad created and/or displayed
that is different from the options below, a separate pricing agreement can be

Your business could be part of our Stokes Valley Business Pages section. This section is
linked to from the main menu panel at the top of every page, so the link is always
visible. Click Businesses and then Business Pages to see those already present.

Your page remains online all the time, and you are quite welcome to refer others to it in
any way you choose.

and web crawlers to its online presence.

Advertorials are special advertisements that resemble news articles written about your
business. They are a very effective way of conveying whatever it is about you that is
unique or gives you that competitive edge. They are also an excellent way to bring across
a personal feel for your business, almost giving customers a "behind the scenes"
look. The more customers feel they know about you and what you do, the better inclined
they are to buy from you.
Characteristics
- Length: 400-500 words of text advertising your business in article format.
- Photographs: Up to four, in colour, approximately 250 x 250 pixels (taken by us or
supplied by you).
- Your advertorial article appears all on its own with no one else advertising in your
space.
- Your advertorial is included in either the News or Features section.
- Special meta tags will be included in the page's hidden headers alerting search engines
and web crawlers to its online presence.
- Links to your web site if you have one can be included.
- $75 includes creation and placement for up to one year.
Look and Feel for Advertisement Design
As much as possible, we'd like to capture your business's "look and feel."
Have you published advertising material before that we could look at? Does your business
have a logo already that we could use or build on? Do you have some company colours? These
are the sorts of questions we would need answered when we come to design your advertising.
But it doesn't matter if you have none of these things; just let our creative graphics
team go to work for you.
Copy for Online Business Pages and Advertorials
How is your business different? What do you specialise in? What unique message do you
want to get across to potential customers? What sort of history or personnel does your
business have? How do you contribute to your local community? How could we give an article
about you a personal touch? These are the sorts of questions we would need answered when
we come to write your online business page or advertorial. If necessary we can help by
asking you some leading questions by phone, by e-mail or even in person.
How do people come to you to do business?
Whether just graphic or written, your advertising needs to be clear on where you are
located, how people can find you, and how you are willing to do business. Do you encourage
customers to call you by phone with orders or inquiries? Can they contact you by e-mail or
online in some way? Is your fax number important to your business. We need to know these
details so we can make sure they are prominent in your advertising.

Within these Terms and Conditions, "we" and "us" refers to the
producers of Stokes Valley Online, owned and published by W.P.S. Ltd. The words
"Customer" and "you" refer to the person or business placing
advertising with, or requesting its creation. The definition of the words "in
writing" includes e-mail, facsimile or the printed or written word.
1. In accepting any material for publication, whether in electronic or
in printed format, we do so relying on the Customer's truthful warranty of the following:
a. The material is truthful and does not contain anything designed to deliberately
mislead.
b. The material complies in all ways with the Fair Trading Act 1986.
c. The material is not defamatory.
d. The material is not offensive or against generally accepted community standards.
e. The material does not infringe on copyright, trademark or intellectual property rights.
f. The material does not breach any person or body's privacy or confidentiality.
g. The material does not breach any law, statute, by-law or regulation.
h. The material fully complies with the Advertising Codes of Practice issued by the
Advertising Standards Authority.
i. The material will not give rise to any liability on the part of W.P.S.Ltd.
2. The Customer agrees to indemnify us against all losses and or costs
arising from publication of the advertising material, or subsequent corrections or
additions to that material.
3. We may refuse to publish any material submitted and are not
required to provide reasons for such refusal.
4. Copy submitted must comply with recognised standards of grammar and
spelling in New Zealand. Where there is disagreement between us and the Customer on such
matters of style, we shall have final say.
5. The positioning of advertising material on the web pages at
www.stokesvalley.co.nz will conform to the guidelines found within this document, but will
be entirely at our discretion within those guidelines, unless specifically agreed in
writing.
6. Advertising placement sold to the Customer may not be transferred
by the Customer to another person.
7. Advertising material designed by us becomes the property of the
Customer and will be made available on request as either Microsoft Word, text, JPG, GIF or
TIFF files. Such material will be sent free of charge as attachments to any e-mail address
specified, or sent through the post on a floppy diskette for a $10.00 fee. However, such
material will only be provided to the Customer once all money owed by the Customer to us
has been received in full.
8. Any funds given or transferred to us will be non-refundable, unless
it can be shown that material produced does not conform to written specifications.
9. Any design or written work done for the Customer at his or her
request will be deemed fully chargeable once it has commenced. Customers may cancel (and
will not be required to pay for) any job where work has not yet commenced.
10. Fees chargeable for any design or written work will be made clear
to the Customer in writing before work commences.
11. Payment of agreed fees is due by the first of the month.
12. If payment for advertising is not received by the due date, the
Customer may be liable for interest charges at market rates, and all costs of recovery and
collection fees.
13.W.P.S. Ltd will not be liable for any direct, indirect or
consequential loss (including loss of revenue or profit) arising from any error or
omission in material published, or for failing to publish for whatever reason. If we are
found to have any liability to our Customer, that liability is limited to the cost of the
advertising placement and or creation.
